I see this blog as a way for me to develop my thoughts. Oftentimes I'll think about an issue in day-to-day life, but I won't continue to examine those thoughts on a deeper level. I hope that this blog will encourage me to put my thoughts into words and develop them into something coherent. But just as importantly, I want to know what others think. I am always open to a new perspective, and I will do my best to understand your viewpoint. So please, take full advantage of comments -- I promise I won't be offended by any criticisms you may have, because I am fully aware that there are many aspects of life and society about which I am unenlightened. I intend to post primarily concerning topics about which I haven't yet developed a firm opinion, so in large part I'm looking for help in figuring things out.

PS I have zero experience with journalism or blogging and am not a strong writer in general. I'm hoping to develop those skills through this blog, but please, bear with me for now!
